A quick GG band question...

This is the place to post items relating to Gordon and his music in a general sense, such as his influences, how he composes, which pieces you enjoy most and why etc.

A quick GG band question...

Postby Trevor Raggatt » Mon Sep 28, 2015 11:18 pm

Gordon,

I was speaking about one of the objects of my geekiness at a bass get together on Saturday... The wonderful Wal Bass. Of course the GG Band is intimately intertwined with the history of these basis since JGP and JG were both very close to the makers and some of the earliest Wal users. In one of my slides I noticed a GG Band reference... A certain Dave MacDonald was an early customer too. It struck me that I knew nothing about this guy or that he had been part of the band.

So who was he? It would be great to hear your recollections of him and it would add some real colour to the early years of the Wal story... Many many thanks for any light you could shed on him.

Here's the list I mentioned... Some stellar names on this list,

I can't really tell you much about Dave except he as a great guy and a friend of Pete Ward our sound man.Dave' had an interesting connection to Joanna Lumley who was a friend of the family. She used to cut he and his brother's hair.I never truly believed it until I met the great lady who indeed confirmed it!
