John Mayall concert in Norwich

Postby sultan4swing » Sun Nov 05, 2017 3:21 pm

Always had a wide musical interest , in many different genres, more specific pieces of music or songs rather than favouring one style or artist. Had never attended a complete concert of blues music so went out on a limb, on the basis of his reputation, to see John Myall and his band. Having attended a couple of concerts by reputable artists and bands, and having been bitterly disappointed by sound balancing or the music itself (not the musicianship), we went to the John Myall concert with a little trepadation. Needn't have worried, the whole concert was a blast and left us feeling uplifted - the main thing we look for in any concert. The warmup band were terrific - great blues - electric guitar plus subtle bass and drums. Then to John Myall. He looks like anyone's benign grandfather - and even into his 70's can really do the blues on guitar, keyboards anbd brilliant harmonica. His bassist was amazing as was the drummer. For the first time in quite a while, we left a concert feeling good..... From a guitarist's technical perspective, this guy has earned his reputation.... Suggest you catch him if he's in your area... !!!!
