Val Doonican

Postby Bob Wilson » Thu Jul 02, 2015 1:31 pm

Sad to hear that Val Doonican has passed away at the aged of 88. His TV program was a joy and his easy going approach to everything hid his great talent as a guitarist.
RIP Val.

Spent my childhood enjoying but not realising the talent, another sad loss.

Ditto to that, Kevin. May the genial Irishman rest in peace.

This is the first I have heard of this rotten news! Val was a lovely man and my memories of the brief time spent with him are truly fond ones.We used to get a Christmas card each year for quite a while.

The last time I saw him was at the funeral of Bert Weedon another sad occasion. He looked great and we had a nice little chat afterwards.

The world of show business will miss him and our thoughts go out to his lovely family at this oh so sad time.

It was a huge honour to be on his show.

RIP Val you were a VERY gifted and special man.

Oh no! That's a shame. I recently played one of his hits last week at my Tuesday afternoon work. They will be gutted when I inform them on Tuesday.

Anyone remember "Paddy McGinty's Goat"?
