Many of us have got to know and respect Ray for his collaborations with Gordon in 'Double Vision' and as one quarter of Four Parts Guitar.
I've just discovered two of Ray's other collaborations with guitarists from the other side of the pond which are an absolute delight.
'America' by the Pro Arte Guitar Trio http://raymondburley.com/index.php?page=cds&family=cds&category=04--Guitar_Trio&display=151 features the music of Gershwin and Bernstein - as in 'West Side Story'. These are all excellent arrangements, superbly played.
'Kaleidoscope' with Gregg Nestor http://raymondburley.com/index.php?page=cds&family=cds&category=03--Guitar_Duo&display=138 is a pleasure to listen to. Some new composers for me and some old favourites too. Ray tells me that Gregg did the arrangements... they're superb and the playing of these two maestros blends perfectly to produce an album that is easy on the ear and demonstrates classical guitar at its very best. And if you're thinking, "Hmmm, I'm not 'into' classical stuff - well buy it anyway - you won't be disappointed.
These two albums made a very enjoyable addition to my drive to Bath today - listened to one on the way there and the other on the way back!
