Bert Jansch Celebration

Postby kevin » Thu Sep 19, 2013 6:46 am

Hi Gordon
Jusr wondered if you had heard about a celebration concert of Berts music at the Royal Festival Hall in December.
It features artists including members of Pentangle, Ralph Mctell, Bernard Butler as well as others.
Would have thought you were the man to perform Angie
Best wishes
Kevin

Hi Gordon
What good news but its only as it should be.
May look at the logistics of attending now.
Thanks Piotr for pointing this out too.
All the best

How great that you've been invited to perform and how right too.

I recall taking a friend to see you play many moons ago at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the South Bank - must have been around 2004 or 5 or 6? We had great seats in the third row right in the middle and I remember, about two tunes in, realising why the chap and his partner sitting right in front of me seemed so familiar. It was Bert and Loren. I can report that he was enjoying the music and the performance every bit as much as we were.

Great news Gordon – and as Kevin said ‘as it should be’. We are unlikely to be able to make it but, with any luck, it will be covered by a TV company (maybe Sky Arts or BBC Four) hopefully. Can’t believe we weren’t able to make the whole group concert at Gloucester!
Be well

Once we saw you were included in the line-up Jill moved Heaven and Earth to get us tickets. Not easy as it is a sell out.

So ferry booked, tickets booked, now can I find my way back to the South Bank errh Royal Festival Hall? Remind me, did we used to live near there once upon a time?

Looking forward to this evening for so many reasons.

See you there.
:)

Just back from the Royal Festival Hall and must say that Gordon's tribute to Loren was beautiful and fitted the occasion perfectly

Hi Colin.

So glad you were there to witness this historical evening, which for many of us was emotionally charged in many ways. My hope was to just hold it all together and do my best, and I think I did that very thing judging by the response from the audience and my fellow musicians after the event! The memory will remain for a long long time. God rest Bert & Loren we miss you beyond words.

I believe the concert was recorded by the BBC. Any details anyone?

I did hear that they are showing some of the highlights in the new year.I don't expect to be amongst them as I only did a short instrumental dedicated to the memory of lovely Loren, but I think a few folks liked it,so that's all that matters and it was an honour to be a part of it all.

Be well buddy.

That's great news for those of us who couldn't make it or get tickets.

G we're at Eastbourne on Sunday - will you be playing "Loren" then?

Roger
