The rationale behind 'Peace will fall' album

Gordon... very interested in your comments on this recent release album..... and the influences behind it.... particularly as it contains a number of re-worked pieces, now with a Christian theme.... I guess musicians can have a problem with giving their music a religious/Christian perspective... it's a problem of perception which I, as a performing solo singer/guitarist for many years , experienced. I have always appreciated Sting's perspective on including such material in his albums... While himself a self-confessed atheist, nevertheless, music should be appreciated for what it is and what it inspires in the individual, regardless of ones religious perspective.... and to stand on its own merits...Life often has the result of making one re-evaluate views and values on anything, particularly personal loss of any sort. There is no reason in my view not to embrace religious themes in ones music, regardless of ones own faith or lack of it.... the music and what emotional and physical benefits it generates stands on its own. My view: "there are only two sorts of music - good and bad - the rest is personal taste".... and always good to have a man of he cloth contributing - just in case....... best wishes

Gordon.. a PS..... Just to say that re "Peace will fall"..... being religious and being spiritual are not necessarily the same thing..... I think we know the difference !!!.

Re your recent hearing loss.... can totally sympathise in the degree to which it impacts on ones love and playing/listening to music and in daily life.... I have always spent much time listening to and playing music. Hence my life underwent a major change in April last year. I woke up one morning to having suffered an overnight SSHL - sudden serious overnight hearing loss in my left ear.... accompanied by nerve sensitivity down the left side of my face, plus highly intrusive tinnitus - noises like loud wind and water tinkling on ice.... This condition can occur to anyone, of any age, in any health and is unfortunately in most cases permanent. No-one knows what cause it, but it results in the death of nerve hairs in the inner ear which interpret the high frequencies - the range we most use day to day, and which impact most on hearing speech and music.. It also means the good ear has problems discriminating between the mnyriad of everyday sounds - being in a room full of people is hell.... I sincerely hope your hearing problem is something minor and curable. A year on and many hearing tests ansd specialist appointments, nothing can be done for mine.... all the symptoms perpetuate... and are permanent....One just has to get on with the hand your are dealt....Just about managing to tell if I'm playing guitar and singing in tune..... Beats me how most people with hearing difficulties can benefit from aids - apparently I can't.... See you in Chepstow in April ... !!!
