Screaming Strat

Postby Nickswitz » Tue May 05, 2020 5:28 pm

Hi all,
Hope you’s are all safe and well.

I recently bought a Mexican manufactured Strat off
an auction site. Action is good, the whammy bar does
not put it out of tune.

I only paid a hundred for it as there is something not
quite right with the toggle switch. From the neck end
the first four positions are fine but the fifth screams
feedback even on low volume/gain/distortion..

I’ve tried moving myself, my amp, turning all PC’s
off /TV/Bluetooth/Wi Fi and anything that creates a
magnetic field, I even unplugged my fridge and freezer
and only had the amp on, not even a lightbulb… :D
No change..

There are repair kits available, pots, toggle switch
etc, does anyone have any experience with them?
Any advice would be appreciated…

Thanks in advance and stay safe and well,

ATB, Nick
