Electric Guitar on Ravens and Lullabies

Postby Roger » Mon Mar 04, 2013 11:35 am

Gordon,

I know that there is another thread going about Ravens and Lullabies, but these are anorak type questions. Brilliant CD in every respect by the way (congratulations to you both :D - you should both be very proud) - I'll be making some comments later in the "Gordon's Music " thread.

Questions are:

1. Which electrics are you using on R&L?

2. Were any amps used, or did you go straight into the desk via a pedal board?

3. On the epic "Is this the last song I write" which guitar parts does Oliver play?

Have to say that at the moment my favourite track is the opener "Moneyfacturing" (i would love to talk to Oliver about the lyrics sometime!). Great guitar work all through the track my friend - just confirms what some of us have been saying for a long time - that when it comes to the electric guitar you're up there with the best sir!

Best to you and Hilary,

Roger (& Em)

Hi Roger.

I think Oliver did just basic heavy distorted chords on Last song.

My main electric guitar was my Fret King GG(OF COURSE) but for the first electric break on Anyone can Fly I used my Paul White Strat and for the second part I used the Fret King.

All the electric guitars were via my Line 6 JM 4.

Be Well Both and thanks for buying the album.

Hi Gordon,

When you say Line 6 JM 4 do you mean the looper. If so it would be great to know which patches you used?

Thanks in advance Richard

Hi Richard yes indeed the Looper.I used several patches but edited them as I went along to find ones that I thought sounded right.I have a list at home in the studio and will look on my return and let you know sir.

Be well.

Looks like a nice bit of kit Gordon and judging by "Ravens and Lullabies" it does the business too! Is it for the studio only, or will it be replacing your Boss effects on stage?

Best to you Sir,

Roger

PS Any truth in the rumour that the "Em's Tune" guitar id being repaired? :D

Hi Roger.Just for the studio my friend. Please remind me what guitar I used for Em's Tune....I should know, but the old memory isn't what it used to be.

Best to you both.

Thanks for the reply Gordon,

I have a JM4 looper and switch, via a lehle AB Y switcher, to either an acoustic or marshall amp, love it. Really interested to see what patches you used. Great than you can also stick a bass guitar and mic into too :D

Richard
