OK guys - amy recommendations for mandolin pick-ups? I have come across a sensational Fender mandolin that has the best action I have ever tried - sadly no pick-up!
Suggestions would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Russ

Not a pickup, Russ, but check-out the Thomann OVID range of mini-microphones. Available with a range of attachment options; I've not yet tried mine on a mandolin, but I'd imagine either the guitar or violin options would suit.

The mic is on a mini goose-neck so can be positioned according to taste and desired sound. Comes with adapter to connect to a standard XLR mic input (phantom power required) or will attach direct to many radio mic lavalier packs.

If you want to borrow mine to see what you think then let me know.

Cheers. Mike

I have a mandolin but if I fitted a decent pick-up it would probably cost me more than the value of the instrument!

Headway make a British-made mandolin pick-up;

and a cheaper 'Snake' variety;

I can't vouch for the quality of the pick-up but I have a Headway SK60 acoustic amp whch is terrific and a Headway pick-up in my study still be installed in a new guitar.
