Hi All,
just thought I'd share some pictures of my Rob Armstrong Gordon Giltrap guitar.
[img]http://photobucket.com/Steviep_Rob_Armstrong_Guitar
I bought it off Rob back in the mid nineties (Rob repaired a neck break on my Les Paul, and this guitar was on the wall of his workshop when I came to collect it). It was built for Gordon, who fitted a Fishman pickup in 92. It's an excellent little guitar, with an unusual wide / shallow C profile (I'll have to try one of the Vintage RA/GG guitars and see how they compare).
I don't suppose anyone knows how much I should insure it for? Any help there would be greatly appreciated.
Steve

Hi Stevie.
I had trouble viewing the image via your link,if you could find another way of posting the pic that would be great.
If its the guitar I'm thinking of I believe it's a small bodied 12 fret with a cutaway? It was indeed a lovely little guitar. Rob made me quite a few over the years(bless him), anyway glad you still have it and obviously treasure it.
Be Well.
G.

What a beauty..
I wouldn't mind a strum of it,bet it sounds great too!!
I love the shapes of Rob's guitars, they are always a bit unusual.
A lucky chap indeed to own this one!

No, just know how to do the techno-majiggery-pokery to get the photos in the link up above to show up in the thread. Proper geek, me!

Thanks to Mike and Trevor for sorting out the links.
Can anyone help me identify the types of wood used?

Looks like an Indian Rosewood back and a Cedar top to me. Guessing mahogany for the next and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I think Trevor is bang on with that assessment.
I thought at first it might be Ovangkol back and sides but i'm sure it will be indian rosewood.
What a great combination Cedar and rosewood are for a guitar!
I'll have to repeat myself and say what a beauty it is.
