Avalon guitars no more?

Postby aviator » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:05 pm

Although their web site doesn't mention it (http://www.avalonguitars.com/index.php) other than the web shop being disabled, Avalon Guitars in Belfast have gone into receivership (see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-18207130.)

Their support forum (http://www.avalonguitars.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1615) has a message indicating that staff were recently laid-off.

It's not looking good. Avalon was on my list of vendors to check-out, but unlike Fylde it was virtually impossible to play an Avalon without visiting the factory in Northern Ireland if you didn't know someone with one. With Fylde I can visit a local dealer such as Forsythes in Manchester, or even visit the workshop in Penrith by appointment.
