Thank you Gordon for such a wonderful evening. And what an evening! Lashing rain, flooding and winds weren't going to stop us making the two hour trip from Dumfries to Rosslyn though, especially as three of our number had travelled up from the midlands.

A truly memorable concert was the reward: Gordon's entry to the Chapel to bagpipes, some old favourites and some new to-be favourites I think ("Rachael's Reflections" was lovely), an impromptu acoustic-only section of "The Lord's Seat" when a circuit breaker tripped knocking out the electrics; all these things added up to an evening that I can only describe by using the word "captivating". I was grinning from ear to ear through most of it and more so when my request for the full version of "Heartsong" was played - I have never heard the full version live and that was something special, so a "Heart" felt thank you for that. The environment was delightful (if chilly) and the acoustics surprisingly good to the ear since Rosslyn is not really designed as a musical auditorium, especially for a PA system. Gordon: thank you so much for sharing the music. You are a true master and a gentleman.

As Gordon is still in Scotland and has no computer access until he returns, he has asked me to post the following message on his behalf.

Gordon would like to express his thanks to Andrea, Cath, the crew and all concerned in organising and running the gig at Rosslyn Chapel for a very special evening.

He would also like to apologise to any audience members that missed the first half of the performance. Gordon was unaware that some latecomers had been asked to wait until the interval before being admitted. This was not at his request and was an unfortunate event that he would certainly have averted had he known about it at the time. He hopes that this did not completely ruin anybodys evening.

This was the first time that I've ever promoted and organised a gig by someone else, and I've learned a lot! Some ten years ago I played my first gig at Rosslyn Chapel and thought how great it would be to get Gordon to play there. Ten years later, I've acheived it! I worked out earlier this year that this my 40th year of playing the guitar in public, and I can't think of a better way of celebrating than by supporting Gordon. Thanks to everyone for their kind attention and applause. I will make a pledge here and now that the next time Gordon plays this venue, no-one will be left out in the cold. Sorry to those who were.

Hi Andrea,

there is always something that happens that you hadn't bargained for isn't there ? I know when I promoted a gig for Gordon in Canterbury, I was really nervous about getting on stage and introducing him - I gave him a great build up, the audience were clapping wildly and he didn't appear !! I'd assumed he could hear the PA in the room he was using as a dressing room but he couldn't  ..... still, overall my gig went very well, as did yours, so give yourself plenty of credit for all the things you had to do that went exactly to plan.
