Tedious logging in

Postby peterl » Thu Dec 06, 2007 10:11 pm

Don't know about anyone else, but each time I visit this site I have to login afresh each time. It's very tedious. Can't the board be set such that we don't have to do that?

Hi Peter,

I'm afraid that having to register initially and log in to post is the usual way these boards operate. If this was removed, the board would be over-run with spam and porn messages within hours.

I currently spend an hour a day, every day deleting spammers who are trying to register. If you had immediate access so would they. A friend closed her board down completely as she was getting 6000 spam messages on it a day.

Don't forget, you only have to log in to post a message, you can read them without logging in. The advantage of logging in to read is that it gives you a direct link to the latest messages and any private messages.

Peter, if it's any help I use the Mozilla Firefox web browser. The first time you log onto a site you will have to enter a user name and password, at which time you are given a choice to 'save' the password or not. Click on yes, and the browser remembers it for you!
Martin.

Hi all.

I also have to log in everytime I want to reply or respond to a posting, it's no big deal, and what Sue says is true about the number of 'intruders' she has to delete on a daily basis.

If logging in each time can cut down on this sort of thing then so be it.

I know many artists who have had to close down the FORUM part of their website because of this very problem(Rick Wakeman to name but one) which is such a shame, because it's good for folk to be able to interact with their site of choice.

I thank you all for your patience with the logging in part of the site, but trust that at the end of the day you think it worthwhile.

Be Well.

G.

ok fair enough. I understand
to Mlower - I've already got Firefox and it saves the password in the master password list, but you still have to hit the login button.
No probs. Thanks :)
