Re: Recent acquisition

Ah Roger, you are a gin aficionado! It didn't take long to empty, believe me. That Menorcan stuff is just too nice... We will get to Southsea! Just haven't managed it so far as the year has been bonkers hectic. Glad you are enjoying the ukulele though. Anna and I have seven ukes between us, of vario...

Re: Gordon's albums: what do you listen to most often?

Interesting question Piotr. For me the top 5 most listened to (in no particular order) are: Visionary Perilous Journey Captured from a Point in Time Troubador On A Summer's Night I suspect that Perilous Journey is the most listened to but Captured isn't far behind (Perilous Journey did have a 29 yea...

Re: New to the forum

Hi Mark and let me add my welcome too. That's a lovely looking instrument and I'll bet it sounds good too. Have you made any recordings you would like to share?

Recent acquisition

I thought I'd share this as I've not been around much recently. Before Christmas I learned that Gordon was making space in his guitar collection. I thought long and hard (well, for a few seconds anyway) about investing in this specific opportunity that came my way and now it sits alongside my other ...

Re: Tom McCauley's Gordon Giltrap Show

I have to say I'm with Roger in the troubadour version of Down the River - it is just such a lovely piece and one of my favourites. It also has cost me more top E strings than any other in my history of guitar playing...not because it is tuned high but because it is tuned low! It seems that on my Fe...

Re: Soundwaves

I've tried resizing them on Photobucket using my iPad as I'm away with work at the moment. That's about an hour of my life I won't see again...a photo editing interface that just doesn't work. The inline img sizing tags didn't work either so I've disabled the image links until I can change the sizes...

Re: RIP David Bowie

@Tom McCauley It's onYouTube at https://youtu.be/8kkmy8wgEo8 That was one amazing gig, about 2.5 hours of music almost non-stop. Just watching it again took me back, like being there. I was just left of centre stage about 20 feet back so really close. There was no seating, it was a stand-up gig in o...

Re: RIP David Bowie

It was a big shock to hear about this on the news this morning. I had the pleasure of seeing him at the NEC in a concert called the TwixMix in the 90s where he appeared alongside Echobelly, Alanis Morrisette and The Lightning Seeds. Two things of note happened during his end-of-show slot: 1) he did ...

I think I might be gaining some of Sue's "Completist" tendencies. :? Whilst perusing a certain online store I came across this item of vinyl http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah163/andrew_davies4/Mobile%20Uploads/2f896855-aa4b-4b2f-9df6-873479485077_zpsrktyavat.jpg http://i1380.photobuck...

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

Are you referring to the CD version which accompanies the Birmingham Symphony Hall DVD / Dual-disc? Yes I am. I too have experienced a little temperamental behaviour from my Blu-Ray player when playing that disc, but gentle coaxing usually works, combined with ejecting and reloading a few times :).

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

My vote went for the Perilous Journey version, but the Eye of the Wind version is in a solid second place.
