Re: Revelation

It's definitely worth hunting down. Some really good tracks on there. Spotted these at very reasonable prices... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CD-Gordon-Giltrap-Live-At-The-BBC-Windsong-International-/301779277106?hash=item4643725532:g:M70AAOSwI-BWLVLX and... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GORDON-GILTRAP-LI...

Re: Charity Auction

HERE, HERE, on all counts! Thanks also to Sue for the Ebay tip-off. Gordon, I note a single concert is still scheduled for 2016 at Bishops Cleeve, Cheltenham. Are you still planning to go ahead with this one? I note, as of today that 137 of the 210 available tickets have sold already (2 to yours tru...

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

Are you referring to the CD version which accompanies the Birmingham Symphony Hall DVD / Dual-disc? By the way, has anyone else struggled to get their Dual-disc thingy to play? I note it very helpfully states that the DVD might not play in some DVD players but I've tried it in three separate players...

Re: Dodo's Dream

Steve - we saw Gordon perform Sallie's Song at Fareham a few years ago on the JB guitar and I'd never seen a double neck used in such a stunning way before. Funnily enough when we were in Dorset during the summer I came across an advert for the John Bailey in "Guitar" (G now has the mag) ...

Re: Dodo's Dream

You know something? I still love the original version on Peacock Party. It tends to be a bit overshadowed by the tour de force which is Gordon's looping extravaganza but it's a carcking track. Mind you, I also think that PP as a whole is a bit overshadowed in people's minds by the trio of V, PJ and...

Re: Dodo's Dream

Hello, I love Dodo's Dream and have had the priviledge to hear it live on three occassions - every time I had goosbumps, but the first time (in St. Ives in 2011) will always be THE live version for me. The recordings with the full band: my favourite is the version from The Band Live 1981. The Dodo'...

Re: VISIONARY (Esoteric CD) mastering / pressing fault?

The plot thickens! Thank you again for your detailed analysis. I think you might have just nailed this issue once and for all. Maybe you'll get the "Giltrap Award For Technical Excellence"? I have just listened to the Voice Print CD again through headphones and I note it is very his...

Re: VISIONARY (Esoteric CD) mastering / pressing fault?

Trevor, Thank you for your A/B comparison notes. Having delved a little further into this myself I can confirm that a) nothing is indeed missing from 2013 remaster but also that b) the swift change in the music at 1.30 is far more abrupt than on either the original LP or the Voice Print CD. It's alm...

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

Trevor,

Thanks for the reply - yes, I was aware of Music For The Small Screen as I had the earlier CD in its original version which I picked up at one of Gordon's shows in about '95-ish?

I was particularly interested to hear if Gordon had ever been approached for film sound-track music.

Best

Re: VISIONARY (Esoteric CD) mastering / pressing fault?

For information I contacted Esoteric directly and they have already got back to me asking for me to send my copy to them for checking as there have been reports of these titles being bootlegged! I'm almost certain all the copies I have are originals and not counterfeits in any way but I will at leas...

Re: VISIONARY (Esoteric CD) mastering / pressing fault?

Hi Sue, Many thanks for checking your copy and getting back to me so quickly. No, I haven't tried it in other players yet simply because it doesn't appear to skip according to the counter / display ie. the seconds count incrementally without missing any number sequence.....8,9,0,1,2,3 etc. It doesn'...

VISIONARY (Esoteric CD) mastering / pressing fault?

Hello to everyone who purchased the recent Esoteric remastered albums, and in particular Visionary. Has anyone else noticed a mastering fault / pressing fault at 1.30 secs into "Revelation"? The music appears to jump or skip ahead several seconds, or at least it does on my copy. Checking m...

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

Hi Gordon, You're certainly most welcome and I'm glad you appreciated my post! A few words from me can never compare to the happiness and joy your music has brought to me over the years or indeed many others. I've just received my last of the current Esoteric remasters so we've been playing your mus...

Re: Quest - a quick summer poll

Gordon, you say your music has never really fitted in, but isn't that the mark of a true revolutionary genius, years ahead of his time? In 200 years time you'll be pronounced a national hero, I promise you. On a personal level I'd just like to echo the comments of our friends above. Your musi...
