Re: Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - my experience

Hi again Brad ... yes, I'm still here and floating around. I've been absent because my wife has been undergoing her latest round of chemo, so I leave the rest to your imagination. What follows will be a ragbag of odds 'n' ends, snippets and fragmentary ramblings. In other words - much as ever for me...

Testing the insertion of an image into a post

(I originally posted this into 'Anorak' area but then thought it was more appropriate here as it has more to do with the website itself than references to any actual guitars.) Have to say that I LOATHE Google+, but, as is so often the way with monolithic organisations, users are pretty well forced ...

Re: Music books you value which others might not know about

For anyone wanting to find a book featuring Gordon's music and playing, I've suggested a book in a separate thread ...

Total Giltrap

Presumably, folks who have joined this forum are fans of Gordon's music. Many, I hope are also players. If so, have you encountered this book which I only landed upon by accident. TOTAL GILTRAP : Guitar encounters of the fingerstyle kind Published by Mel Bay with an enclosed CD of all pieces plus ad...

Re: Message to Old Bones

Hi Gordon. Just seen this message. I think I recall the comment you are referring to - but can't remember which upload it was associated with. In essence, I recall commenting that although I love your music, I found what I described as your 'twiddly' style something that wore me down after awhile. I...

Re: Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - my experience

Sometime soon I will put a new thread in this part of the forum about 'Guitars what I have owned' and try to give a potted history for each - I think this could prove of interest and get others to contribute similar information, even if it could end up as 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly of guitars'...

Re: Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - my experience

Ahhhh - the old Eko Ranger 12. I also had one back in the 60's. Heavy as a brick but actually very nice to play. It's interesting that the guitar has been updated with a much more versatile arrangement for the neck trussrod. Definitely good guitars to check out if you find one going cheap. My impre...

Re: Invite to OLD BONES

he would like to invite you up to their showroom in Garforth, anytime you fancy to try out any of their guitars at your leisure. ..... Dennis feels you are an exception sir. I very nearly dropped a cup of coffee into my lap when I read this Gordon. Can't really get my head round the last part of th...

Re: Taylor GS Mini - my review

The excellent action that my guitar had initially seems to have deteriorated a little, but that is no doubt due to me not providing adequate protection from the detrimental effects of the humid summers and dry winters over here. Hi Roger. Thanks for commenting on my review. The one thing that Bob b...

Re: Paul Brett VE8000PB signature 12 string - MY REVIEW

The VE8000PB doesn't sound like any other 12 stringer .... it produces a warm, 'surround' .... very inspiring instrument indeed, the kind that leads you to push the envelop and find new ways of playing ... I don't like the cheesy 'gold' plated tuners. I agree about the sound, although when I...

Re: Paul Brett VE8000PB signature 12 string - MY REVIEW

You have made a wise choice and I shall let my pal Mr Brett know.. Thanks Gordon - very generous and magnanimous of you. It was a tough call choosing between the GG and PB twelves and in reality I'd probably have loved both, but the PB has certainly suited my needs to perfection. When you encounter...

Taylor GS Mini - my review

As with my review of the VE8000PB-12, I’ll begin by listing a few key facts and features and will then follow that with a more subjective description of my impressions of the guitar that I have owned for about 3 years. I’ll endeavour to keep this review shorter than the one I wrote for the VE8000PB-...

Re: Paul Brett VE8000PB signature 12 string - MY REVIEW

It was all very interesting, but a little short....... Maybe I should alter my username to OldMrShortAndSweet ... ? Brevity is a package that must have got lost in my post ..... hey ho! I just hope that some parts of my ramblings will help anyone who's interested in the PB. Now I'll sign off. Or sh...

Paul Brett VE8000PB signature 12 string - MY REVIEW

For anyone who does not wish to read my entire review, which, I’ll grant you, is long and detailed, I’ll begin with a summary of key facts and figures. I’ll base this on a slightly modified version of the usual structure of reviews to be found on the UltimateGuitar.com website. I’ll then follow that...

Re: VE2000GG-12 vs VE8000PB-12 - Youtube demos and reviews

Thanks Phil. Very detailed and useful. That should be really helpful for anyone who is in the position of trying to decide between these two excellent instruments. As you may have gathered from my posts elsewhere - I've decided upon the VE8000PB-12 so after I've received it and given it a thorough t...
