Re: Ash's birthday guitar

Thanks so much Rog... It was Ash's 18th yesterday and he had a great (and rather civilised) time with us and a few mates at a local pizza restaurant! We are all looking forward to our weekend at Rob's and the collection of the guitar. Ash's reaction to this is quite interesting as the excitement is ...

Re: Ash's birthday guitar

Thank you so much for your kind words Gordon - I heard the guitar down the phone today and it sounded great! Rob reports that the K&K pick-up appears to have been a great choice as all it does is make the guitar sound louder!
More details to follow soon...
Cheers,
Russ

Ash's birthday guitar

Only a couple of weeks away now! Soon we'll be travelling up to Coventry to collect Ash's 18th birthday present from his whole familly - a Rob Armstrong acoustic. This is going to be something special (what 'Robbie' isn't?) as Ash convinced Rob to build one more Bert Jansch guitar for him. The guita...

Blues Machine tour!

Well, that's it for another summer. The Blues Machine are all back at their respective colleges (BRIT school and Twynham 6th form) with some great memories to reflect on. The tour was a huge success and great fun...even for me, who did the driving for over two thousand two hundred miles and six coun...

Re: John Bailey Guitar - An astonishing Discovery!!!

That is an amazing story - what an incredible find. I am pleased to hear that you are treading slowly with this as the guitar has been minding its own business for the past half century and shouldn't be rushed now! As far as value is concerned, I think it's down to guesswork as it is a totally irrep...

Re: Thoughts re Small Amps

Oh what a minefield....I'll have tread carefully here for fear of offending people, but here are my thoughts; There is no such thing as a 'one size fits all' amp - it all comes down to compromise and what you are prepared to sacrifice in quality in return for functions and features. There are two fa...

Re: Teamwood

Ha ha!! Thought you guys would find this interesting. Sadly, the story is far too complicated to reiterate here, but, Gordon I assure you I will give you the full story when I see you. It was never really Jeff's guitar rather something he asked to have made to use on an album - a common event I beli...

Teamwood

I have a bit of interesting news - I have just purchased 'Teamwood', Jeff Beck's Telecaster that he used on the Guitar Shop album. The guitar was built by Steve Acworth - the electric guitar equivalent of Rob Armstrong - back in 1988 and is revolutionary in it's design and construction. It features ...

Re: Maple Fretboard Care

Wow - what an interesting debate! Not, I am sure what was expected from the original posting. The Lemon oil issue is fairly contentious I admit, but anything citrus based will tend to act as a solvent and is likely to dry out the wood rather than feed it. I do think the manufactures have been pretty...

Re: CLIFFORD T WARD.

Ash is currently aiming for his A levels with his ultimate aim being an English degree, He has cited CTW on a number of ocassions as an influence in contempory English poetry and 'Home thoughts' as a seminal piece which inspired many young musicians and poets of the seventies and eighties to explore...
