Chilcompton Village Concert
Arriving early at Chilcompton so that I could give Gordon a hand with the set-up and sound check, we were greeted by the hosts for the evening and made to feel very welcome. A very pleasant village with a very good village hall. Gordon was on very good form for this gig and was really enjoying himse...

Re: A tab for The Mariner's Tale?
Hi Max Lovely piece reminiscent of the Irish piece 'Marie's Wedding'. If you want to work Gordon's piece's out for yourself check the 'Tips and Tabs' section for a list of his tunings. This tuning is in F/Bb/D/G/Bb/C. If you don't fancy the time working it out the Total Giltrap book will give you th...

Hi Russ
If you are OK paying a little more (£500 +) it would be worth checking out Eastman mandolins.

Very nice review Roger. It certainly whetted our appetite. We can't wait to see them all again hopefully at Swindon.
Hope to see you at another concert soon

St Michael's Church, Bishops Itchington
A great venue for the last of the ‘Ravens and Lullabies’ tour for 2012 (more to come in 2013). St Michael’s Church was originally where Gordon and Oliver chose to practice and pull together their tour, so it is special to them and it showed. Both were relaxed and in good form, obviously having fun t...

Re: Gordon & Oliver - Ashcroft Arts Centre, Fareham
Hi Roger and Em A great review (I told you that you'd really enjoy the variety :D ). Unfortunately, we were too late to get tickets seated together so decided to try and get to another concert (our Trowbridge concert was also a sell-out). It's great to see sell-outs as the work these two have put in...

Trowbridge Arts Festival Concert
On Saturday 29th September, Trowbridge Arts Festival hosted a concert with Gordon and Oliver on their ‘Ravens and Lullabies’ tour. After a sold-out guitar workshop given by Gordon in the afternoon, the evening saw all seats also filled for their concert. Not really knowing what to expect with this d...

Re: Novice Wanting Help
You do not say if you play any alternate tunings. If you do, the piece ‘A Christmas Carol’ in Gordon’s ‘Tips and Tabs’ under ‘News’ on the Forum is nice to begin with. Otherwise, I would think that ‘Maddie Goes West’ would be the right tune for you to learn. It’s not too easy (which of Gordon’s is?)...

Re: Thoughts re Small Amps
Hi Roger Without a doubt the best small amp I have seen recently is the Blackstar, but they can be expensive. Check out the Micro Cube if it is only for home use. It's a great little practice amp with effects and modelling amps. Battery or mains plus headphone for complete quiet. I use mine with a P...

Re: Maple Fretboard Care
Hi Roger I've only ever used Lemon Oil on varnished maple necks to clean the dirt off. On my rosewood fingerboards I use: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gerlitz-Guitar-Honey-Fretboard-conditioner/dp/B000EEJF4O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336992359&sr=8-1-fkmr0 I've used this for years and still h...
