Just a quick thank you to Hilary and Gordon for Saturday night and it was great to meet first hand, people who were only previously 'web contacts'.

Brilliant idea Mike! I was thinking of the little Studiomaster monitors, but I remember hearing a pair of the Fortissimos a few weeks ago and was really impressed by them...I didn't realise they were so cheap! OK, so for around £140 it would be possible to get one of these, a Behringer multi FX peda...

Hi Tony, I expect there will be a few varied ideas in response to your question as the subject of acoustic amplification is quite subjective and there are few hard and fast rules. There are however a few points it does pay to look out for. Remember that what you want to be buying is NOT a guitar amp...

And now for something completely different........

Ok, you've probably seen the Rory tribute Strat we've recently finished.....now for the next project! This one is going to be a (playable for a 'righty') Hendrix tribute. The idea is to take a LEFT handed Strat copy and turn it over - the reverse of what Hendrix did. I've found a suitable leftie don...

Jeff Healey

A little late I know, but I have only just heard about the sad and untimely death of blues/jazz guitar legend Jeff Healey. Born in Canada, Jeff Healley lost his sight to cancer wwhen he was one year old, but picked up the guitar at the age of three and developed his technique of playing it flat acro...

Thanks Toni, those are really constructive comments, and be assured that I will pass them on. Yes, the lads are going through that 'rabbit in the headlamps' stage at the moment, but I'm sure they will soon start relaxing a bit more. Yes, I know it's all too easy to be biased (as a parent), but I thi...

It lives!!

For those of you who have been following the story, I can now confirm that the Rory Gallagher 'tribute' Strat is finished. Many thanks to those of you who have contributed to the project and donated some of the rarer parts needed to make it authentic - you know who you are! The guitar feels really s...

Sorry Mike, of course, my reply was to the thread in general not just to you. As far as phasing problems go...never had any! What it does mean is that by using the pick up as a third source you can move at least one mic further away and exploit some of the room's natural acoustics/reverb. Spacial pl...

Hi Mike, I think one of the problems faced by anyone setting out to record acoustic guitar is that there are so many variables and very few constants. If you are a studio engineer, you will know your room and your equipment, but probably not the guitar or the guitarist. If you are working at home, y...

Roger, thank you SO much for the 'Strat' knobs. Wow, are they discoloured! Funny how the volume one is almost still white while the two tones are nearly orange! Thanks again it is really kind of you to send them and as soon as the Rory tribute is finished I'll post some pictures of it on here. All t...

No music up there yet but it shouldn't be too long.
Thanks on their behalf for the messages of support!

Yep, Gordon now has over one thousand friends on his Myspace page. Apart from a handfull initially, all of these have been requests, not 'adds' from Gordon's end. Brilliant, quite an acheivement Gordon, well done.. here's to the next 'grand'!
