Wow!
What a fantastic night - I have to give full credit to the organisers of the Salisbury Arms 'Beer and Music' festival for organising such a great weekend! Apart from the usual fee, we are currently enjoying a crate of Itailian wine (red and white), a kilo of good mature English Cheddar and a half ki...

Hi Roger - the gig is at a pub in Christchurch called the Salisbury Arms. They hold an annual beer and music fest which is usually pretty busy and damned good fun! Apart from the main bar, there is a barn with all the real ales racked up, and a marquee in the grden for acoustic music during the day....

Busy, busy, busy!
I'm having real trouble getting my head around the fact that it's July - it feels like march or april and I keep thinking there's lots of time until the summer! All of a sudden everything has crept up on me - last week I did PA for a 'battle of the bands' contest (hate the bloody things!) - Ash's ba...

Ahh, well Trevor..it's a bit of a long story but here goes: Dave Grohl and Keith Richard are both players of Dan Armstrong/Ampeg 'Lucite' clear acrylic guitars. Both also own and play 'back-up' instruments. These are period 'copies' from around 1973 made by CSL in the UK. In some ways the CSL's are ...

I'm cool..but nobody knows it....!
I've just discovered that in 1973 I made Dave Grohl's (Foo Fighters) guitar. I didn't know it, he doesn't know it, you didn't know it......but now you do ands he doesn't. So that makes all Gordon's 'anorak readers' cooler and more enlightened than Dave Grohl. That's what I call cool!

Sorry guys but a new 'axe' hs entered the Gannicott stable. I must stress this is not mine and indeed has nothing to do with me...I totally blame Ashley for visiting a guitar shop when they were having a clear out and then coming home with a twetny quid project, um...that turns out to be a fairly go...

Peter Frampton - eat ya heart out!
He, he......I've just made a 'talk box'. Don't ask why..I have no idea, I've just harboured this secret desire to make one for as long as I can remember and now I have! And YES.....it does work. Can't wait to try it on an acoustic! Oooh and other things like pre recorded human voice, keyboards, whol...

Hi Mike, Several answers here; The cabs I'm looking at are pretty efficient and can deliver a fairly high SPL. The plan is to run a series/parrallel arrangement that will ultimately drop down to either a sum of 4 ohms per side for smaller venues or 2 x 4ohms for larger venues. And yes, I am still th...

I first got the idea when I was in a small venue and used the low ceiling to bounce the HF to the people at the back! I also tried the same thing another time when using side fills and found I could saturate the stage if I mounted the cabs high enough and on their sides in pairs. The basic idea is t...

All quiet on the western front!
Hello? Any anoraks out there? It's all been a bit quiet recently, where are you all? As far as I've been concerned things have been pretty busy. Ash's band The Blues Machine had their first commercial gig last week which found me in the role of roadie/sound engneer/transport manger and guitar techie...

Actually....I will add one thing. Ash's band has just come in for a bit of criticism over their version of Crossroads 'not as good as Eric' etc. It's based on Robert Johnson's 1936 recording of 'crossroads blues'...probably the same source as Clapton used himself...a fact that would not go un-notice...

Ahha! Hi Jacqui! Well....I have the photos and now anytime Ash starts playing up all I will have to do is show them to him and threaten to call you up and invite you down to sort him out!! Seriously though, lovely to meet you at such a fantastic event and hopefully we'll meet up again some time. All...
