What a load of rubbish

That headline might seem as though it is about to condemn something, however, it is really referring to what can happen when on an otherwise routine trip to a local waste disposal site to get rid of recyclable materials. A few weeks ago, I had to replace my 20 years plus garden shed – the roof was i...

Re: Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

Finally got round to taking my VAD04 guitar on a flight, despite many road journeys in the UK, to test its 'Air' part of the name credentials. I have posted a review on the Voyage Air Guitar website - URL at the bottom of this message if you wish to follow up - but post it here also for information....

Guitar Heroes at the BBC

Saturday 11th August 2018, just after 20:35 .. sitting minding my own business and waiting for our granddaughter to vacate the bathroom, I decided to idly trawl through the TV channels for something of interest - apart from repeats - when I chanced upon the above title on ‘Yesterday’. Great watching...

Re: Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

Hmm! There is a great deal of familiarity in your posting. I had a Lambretta 125 which occupied a fair amount of greasy hands time maintaining and repairing ... and cost me torn muscle from my shoulder to just above my waist on the left side after skidding on a patch of oil (left by a car normally p...

Re: Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

A quickish update. I changed the strings on this guitar in mid-February and can only say that this is now my ‘go-to’ guitar almost every time. The Elixir light phosphor bronze strings definitely enhance the tone giving just that little extra depth to the lower strings whilst retaining the brightness...

Re: Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

Oldbones, Interesting videos! Tom Paxton wrote ‘Thank You Republic Airlines’ around 1983, maybe a little earlier, and, in notes on the song, indicated that Republic Ailines had gone out of business. Your reply prompted me to do a little bit of research from which I found that Republic Airlines is no...

Re: Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - Four Years on

Welcome back Oldbones. The stability of the VE2000GG 12 string is absolutely fine. In fact the original purchase - the one that suffered a dislocated neck - is still going strong with my eldest son, having had a superb repair job done on that. My own stability, now that is an entirely different matt...

Re: Viator tuning, string suggestions?

Hi Max, That certainly is a little bit of a puzzle as the ‘Viaten’ denotes the tenor model - a 4 string version of the Viator. That model did not have built in pickup, so can only agree with you that something has gone a little awry at JHS, or in China where it is manufactured. No matter what, back ...

Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - Four Years on

I checked in on the forum yesterday and found that my original post of 'Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - my experience', posted on 5th February 2014, has gone passed the 25,000 views mark. I am astounded. That got to me to thinking, inquisitively, on just how many who have read that review, and the ensu...

Re: Vintage Viator Strings

Hi Vic, I mixed the strings on my Viator with Medium and light gauge - 4th, 5th and 6th as medium and 1st,2nd and 3rd as light gauge. The effect is to give slightly more depth to the 4th to 6th strings, which I found more acceptable. However, as I am sure you are aware, the size of the Viator won’t ...

Re: Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

Roger and Charlie, Thanks for your responses. Interesting, Roger, that my post was the first you had heard of these guitars. You won’t have to face the extra costs of import duty and quite a high carriage charges, though I am sure there will be some local/Federal taxes to add. Also, you may be able ...

Voyage Air Guitar – VAD-04

I have had this guitar since 5th October 2017, since which time I have been ‘acclimatising' it and, naturally, playing it to allow it to bed in. So far, I have not made any adjustment on the truss rod. That last sentence may seem a bit odd when you consider that this is a guitar which folds at the 1...
