Gordon,

Talk about a quick response!!

Unfortunately Em is now in bed with the 'flu virus which seems to affecting so many people in Portsmouth, but I'm sure she'll be fine for your gigs in 2008!

Best to you and Hilary,

Roger

Toni, When I started trying to play the guitar again I found it quite awkward to use a pick. I just took things gradually until I could use one for single strings and then chords (downstrokes). Problems returned when I tried to play rapid downstroke/upstroke - the pick usually ended up flying around...

Steel Strings on a Classical Guitar?

This may seem like a strange one, but perhaps not so strange bearing in mind Gordon's car boot guitar. I am currently using two guitars, a Cort X2 electric and a Hondo classical with nylon strings. The Hondo is great for picking up and playing when I have a few spare minutes, but I'd also like the o...

Likewise Russ - have a good one everybody! Also thanks to Gordon, Sue and everyone who contributes regularly to the forum. Over the past few years alot of these have disappeared or are dying on their feet due to lack of a contribution from the artiste and/or forum members, or because of spam problem...

Colin,

Thanks for alerting people to the gig, which even by GG standards was a bit special last year! Hopefully it won't be too late to get tickets!

Thanks again,

Roger

Dodo's Dream Distorted Solo

Gordon and Bob, I'm just wondering what you suggested to young Ewan about playing the distorted guitar parts in Dodo's Dream? Do you suggest trying to copy the original or improvising? Which scales is the solo built on? Thanks, Roger PS Gordon, thanks for Em's message - much appreciated!!

Get Well Soon Message

Hi Gordon! I wonder if you wouldn't mind posting a "get well soon" for Em. She came off her mountain bike on Thursday and is currently suffering from some nasty bumps, bruises, and a painful fracture of her left elbow. Of course this means that I'm doing the cooking at the moment, but appa...

Thanks for the info Peter - it's always good to get feedback about the many "budget" guitars out there these days! Russ has always posted his thoughts and let's not forget the excellent Farida Tele! Let us know how the guitar sounds when you've fitted some decent strings. All the best, Rog...

Peter,

It would be good if you could let us know your thoughts about the package when appropriate (after Xmas I guess!).

Cheers,

Roger

Russ,

Of interest to me is that they do a "leftie" version (not in pink!). Any idea who makes these guitars for gear4music?

Thanks,

Roger

Peter, Have a look at the Ashton Joey, which is a solid top 3/4 electroacoustic. I saw one a few weeks ago in Nevada Music (Portsmouth) for just over £100. The following link will give you more details: http://www.musicstreet.co.uk/ashtonjoeysolidtop34electroacousticguitar-p-1727.html?currency=USD G...

Hi Gordon! Phew.........nice to know that I haven't gone potty (or that the reading glasses don't work)! Unfortunately it's unlikely that we will be able to get to Bramdean this weekend, but it's great to see that you have gigs at Fleet and Liphook on consecutive weekends in Feb of next year. What a...

Colin, I had a very quick look in the said mag, but couldn't see anything about UTBS. Is it the featured TAB? By the way, I agree totally with the comments made by yourself and Trevor. UTBS is a piece of music that I'm drawn back to time and time again. I hope to hear Gordon play it again soon! Best...
