Message for Colin(F)

Colin,

Just wondering if you are still planning to visit the Great British Beer Festival? If you are let me know via the forum and I'll post my e-mail address so that we can make some arrangements.

Cheers,

Roger

Gordon, As always well said sir! I'd never come across Bridgett before, so it was nice to learn about another highly talented guitarist who plays both acoustic and electric guitar (can't think who the other one is  ). Best wishes, Roger (&Em) Ps Much as we'd love to, we can't make Andover ...

Hobo/Bob, Sorry that neither of you can make it to the GBBF 2007. When Gordon played at the festival in 2005 it really was a great day in every respect. Never mind, I'll have a half for both of you! Bob, If the Andover gig had been on Saturday we would both have been there, but unfortunately tomorro...

Thanks as always Russ! That's a great point you make about the Baby Taylor - I just accepted the construction because of their name! I'll have a look at Shine and Crafter. All the best, Roger PS Just wondering if you ever make your way across to the Southsea Folk and Roots Festival in August?

Personally I thought he was a pain in the .....! I'm sure that his ego came into it to a certain extent and like so many people in life he's a great talker, but doesn't want to or can't listen. As my Partner Em said, most blokes would love to have some lessons from a talented guitarist and good teach...

Reposted Question for Russ

Hi Russ, I tried to post this question last night at about 10pm, but it never appeared, so here goes again!! I'm thinking about buying myself a steel string acoustic in the near future. I prefer a smaller-bodied guitar, it needs to be available as a "leftie" and some sort of P/U would be n...

Play It Again: Bill Oddie grapples with the electric guitar

Just wondering if anyone watched this program tonight on BBC1. I found it really interesting, particularly when Mr Oddie "sacked" his teacher, Bridget Mermikides!

Hi Russ,

Looks very much like a Shergold neck to me, but I'm not sure about the body. Is it some sort of hybrid??

All the best,

Roger

Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court

Gordon, Just seen the confirmation that you're playing at the GBBF, which is great news indeed - I think it's time to book a days holiday in August! Finding this out now is great for me, as I have to go into hospital on Monday for a short stay and it's something I'm not looking forward to. The thoug...

St. George's Day.....

......is a day that should be celebrated by us English, particularly as it's my Father's Birthday (he's 81 this year)! After all, during the 15th century it was on a par with Xmas and hopefully one day St.George's Day will be recognised again on a level akin to those national days celebrated by our ...

Thanks Gordon! Jackson's story is certainly a very sad one and it's also unfortunate the Davey Graham appears to have fallen on hard times. Bert seems to be OK though and comes across as a "good bloke" (thanks again for introducing me to his music). As you mention the late 60s/early 70s, I...

"Guitar Man" by Will Hodgkinson

What a great book this is about learning to play the guitar - I can't put it down! The author is privileged indeed to have met and got some tips from some of the greats, in particular Bert Jansch and Davey Graham. Bert states that his favourite player of all time is Jackson C. Frank. Is anyone famil...

GG Guitar collection

Gordon, After seeing your 12-string for sale on ebay and the other guitars you have advertised at The Music Store, I'm just wondering how you decide when the time has come to say goodbye to a particular guitar. Is it a question of how often a guitar is used, storage space, making way for new additio...

Russ,

You were really the "guru" on the old guitar forum and I think your expert opinion is essential if the new guitar forum is to be as interesting and useful as the old one. PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP!!

All the best,

Roger
