Re: Novice Wanting Help
Ages since I dipped in here so an update. Last December I decided to do something about playing more seriously and after a couple of adverts got together a bunch of guys just to play and practise together. We meet each week in my Cellar and really enjoy it. The lineup over the months has changed for...

Re: Telecasters
Just found this brilliant site again and on this topic I bought a Peavey copy Tele off a friend recently for a few bob and I must say I now possibly play this guitar more than I do my others which are: Takemine semi-acoustic Fender Strat Gretch 6120 and a couple of acoustics. The Peavey is a brillia...

Rock Guitarist/Singer Wanted
Rock Guitarist/Singer Wanted I am asking this as a favour for a friend who is well known in the music industry and so does not want it general knowledge yet about this project which is still very much under wraps. Based in SW France it would ideally suit someone living here so if either your good s...

Re: Novice Wanting Help
Hi Ian My "in my 60's' comment was a bit tongue in the cheek. What I really meant was that my fingers are not as nimble (or thin) as they used to be and so I need to ensure I do not take on something too ambitious. Guitar lessons would be a great idea but living here in the wilds of France ther...

Re: Basic Setup
Thanks Trevor for some great input. I have had a quick look at the Looperlative and my initial thoughts were a bit pricey for what it is and would it stand up to lots of use as the switches looked a bit fragile. I think BOSS still have it.
Loved the videos by the way.

Re: Guitar Staying in Tune
Some excellent advise there and I will certainly take it. I live in France so I am not sure where I could get the guitar set up but checking the stringing is a good start point.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Guitar Staying in Tune
Hi Gordon Yes I love my Gretsch but I do have one moan about it. Awhile ago the jack plug developed a fault (buzzing when inserting the lead) and not knowing how to get to it to change it I contacted Fender, who now own Gretsch, and asked them how to do it. Would you believe it but there is no acces...

Re: Basic Setup
I have been looking at the Fender Passport range and not sure whether to go this way or for a Peavey power mixer setup. I think the BOSS RC3 looper is the one to go for as well. I am on a limited budget and not wanting to fill auditoriums - just friends front rooms, garden parties etc. Anyone got an...

Guitar Staying in Tune
Staying in Tune I have had a Gretch 6120 guitar for many years which is my pride and joy and have just decided it is time I tried a bit more seriously to play it and I have posted elsewhere asking for help in equipment etc. I have a problem though. Recently (one year ago) I purchased a Takamine G S...

Re: Basic Setup
Thanks Gordon, that is some good advice, no need to call me sir though.
I have a brilliant idea. I think it is time you had a new looper - and sold me your old one. What do you think?

Basic Setup
Any Suggestions? In my retirement I am taking up my guitar again purely for my own use as I am not that good, but would like to ask for sone advise. Recently I saw a guy in a local hostelry (we live in France) playing and singing using I think a Boss RC3 looper and some sort of amplified mixer deck...

Re: Novice Wanting Help
Hi Gordon
You won't remember me but we chatted years ago.
In my retirement I have picked up my guitar again and am going to take it a little more seriously so what better place to start than with your good self.
Cheers.

Novice Wanting Help
Novice Wanting Help I hope this is the right area to post this but I do not think that it would be suitable to any other place. I have been 'messin'' with a guitar for some time, knowing many chords, reasonable at fingerstyle etc. but by no means good. I would love to be able to knock out a tune in...
