Just read about this and was going to post here, a tragic loss and a great musician, I often think that outside of musicians circles, session musicians never ever get the recognition they deserve.
sleep well Jim

Re: A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR DESTROYED BY UPS.
Can I add another one to the list to think twice about? Parcelforce, not only did they make no attempt to deliver but sent it staight to a post office (where according to their ToC, its for the customer to collect), the box containing two very hard to get hold of sill panels for a Jaguar XJS looked ...

Re: A BEAUTIFUL GUITAR DESTROYED BY UPS.
I have to admit, I'm not a great lover of UPS either, I rate them only slightly higher than Parcelforce (and you don't want to know my opinion of them!) for my humble two penn'orth, DHL take some beating, never had any problems with them and when a guitar I bought from the states was snarled up in C...

Re: Thoughts re Small Amps
Hi Scott I had a MG Marshall (30 watt) and a very fine amplifier it is too, but is limited to only four effects and they cant be dialled in together unlike both the Cube and the Vypyr, that was one of the main reasons I got rid of mine, there is also the Vox Valvetronix which is a terrific amplifier...

Re: Another instrument to consider
Hi Roger My preference is Steel to be honest, although I'm dusting off my classical skills (dusting off? more like a major cleaning exercise). I look at the videos of people playing classical on Youtube and am in total awe of the skill they have, then I look at players using steel strung guitars and...

Re: Thoughts re Small Amps
If this is for electric, look at a cube 20 or my practice amplifier, a Peavey Vypyr 30 watt modelling amp, worth every penny and available for about £150 new and less than a ton on Ebay, both of these have built in effects and the Peavey does have more toys than I know what to do with (even does a p...

Another instrument to consider
Morning all, just got back from my monthly string buying session and while there, I had opportunity to have a little tazz on an Epiphone SST classic, now we arent talking a state of the art bespoke instrument here and it definately isnt an Ovation, but in my humble opinion, for a single cut away wit...

Re: Teamwood
Russ, this sounds like my kind of guitar, I like rough looking instruments, they have more character for me. You'd love my Hamer Vector then Gordon, Think Rory Gallaghers Strat but ten times worse! I don't think it has more than 2 square inches of paint at any point, chunks missing out of it,...

Re: Harrier Mistral Telecaster Copy
Hi Roger Single coil pick-ups should be adjusted to sit with the treble side slightly higher than the bass for a good tonal balance. Fret the two outer strings at the final fret, then adjust the pickups so the polepiece tops sit 2.5mm and 3.5mm from the treble and bass E strings respectively. On a S...

Re: Greetings from the sunny West Midlands
Did you know that Ritchie quite likes my music? hi Gordon, and so he should lol, I have to admit I find his acoustic work far more inspiring than his electric work, even though at the time it was almost as ground breaking as Hendrix. Thank you for your compliment, I have to admit, I did downsize th...

Re: GG 12 String Possible Issue
For my two-penn'orth Unless a 12 string is designed and engineered to take the extra strain from the outset, there is always the possibility that existing load bearing components (can't you tell i'm a design engineer? ) will fail over a period of time, in a guitar, as already mentioned, this w...
