Re: From the Four Winds
Oh yes so it is! Not noticed that before. Would still recommend the Burley book though. Double Vision is also well worth Getting as in addition to giving you the chance to play duets it has some numbers that arn't available elsewhere, such as Maddie goes West and Ravensbourn. And it includes tab. En...

Re: From the Four Winds
I would also highly recommend "The Long Road Home" book of arrangements by Ray Burley for classical guitar. Amongst other gems, you will find a version of "From the Four Winds" in standard tuning and a different key. One of these days I will get around to trying Gordon's version ...

Micro mesh abrasive pads
For those of you who prefer to pluck with bare fingers, here is a tip I gleaned from an American classical guitar website. Micro mesh pads, as used by fine quality wood turners for polishing up things like fountain pen barrels, are absolutely fantastic for shaping and polishing finger nails. They co...

Re: The art of a good slap
Thanks for that. One thing I have found since I posted that it works much better If I clout the bass strings preferentially as the trebles just produce a faint ping. I was basically bunching my RH fingers together and banging them down, end on, which tends to favour the top strings. I'm now doing it...

The art of a good slap
I wonder if someone could advise an aging classical guitarist how to do a decent slap? Buying some of Gordon's scores a year or two ago led me to buy one of those new fangled steel stringed instruments, and I've had great fun with it. Working my way through Shady Tales, though, it quickly became app...

Going logically through the score it would seem to be... Intro|A|B|C|A|B|D|E|A|B|D|E|coda but what is the significance of E? Does it just refer to that one bar, and if so is it missed out the first time around, and then does it jump from E straight to the coda the second time? Some clarification wou...

Thanks for that, not something I've tried before, struggling enough just playing it normally at present! And yes I'm enjoying your books immensely, together with Ray Burley's arrangements (which is where I started as I'm a classical player). So much so in fact that I went out and bought a steel stri...

Triangular note symbols in Heartsong
Could someone tell me what the triangular note symbols on the open 4th string mean (page 23 'Vintage Giltrap').

Scratch boards
Hi all, the scratch boards have fallen off one of the guitars I use due to the glue drying out. Now I have no use whatsoever for the things so could happily do without them, but there are two complications. The most important is that the guitar belongs to my wife who has had it since she was a littl...
