Re: The Anoraks Forum

Hi Roger Totally agree! This forum is great for finding out how others play or mod guitars etc. and also having Gordon checking things is gold dust to us. Your guitar looks very nice and having coil splits will give even more variation with your sound with just a pull/push of the volumes. Got yourse...

Re: G7th cappos.... a different experience..

Until the G7 capos came out I used the Hamilton capo from the sixties which was amazing and quick to put on. I still have it and it is as good now as it ever was. I have a couple of G7s which I use now and they are one of the best out there imo.

RIP Peter Green

I’m sure many of you will be very sad to hear of the passing of the great blues guitarist Peter Green. I know Gordon knew him as we have talked about it. We have lost a great composer, musician and inspirational guitarist. A huge influence on me and my playing. RIP Peter

Re: Best wishes for Rog xxx

Only just read the post Rog & Em. Sorry to hear you are having health problems. All I will say is take things as easy as you can, which I know is hard, but it is needed when you have the stress of caring for others and I'm sure we all send you lots of positive energy and love. Hopefully you'll b...

Re: Season's Greetings

As you sing ‘A Christmas Carol’ let your voices rise ‘In Unison’,
Let any tears be ‘Tears of Joy’ and may your life be ‘Forever Gold’.
Be ‘Lucky’!
:)

Merry Christmas to all Forum members.
We hope 2016 is a positive year for all
Be well

Re: Hi Spot Guitars

Hi Roger
The Hi Spot was a very popular guitar in the seventies. They were a good price and great little guitars. I still have a Classical somewhere lurking in the house. Must get it out and see how it is now after all these years :D

Re: Dodo's Dream

I have to say that they all have their own merit but any played on the Variax for me is special as I now own it (aren’t I the lucky one!). I remember trying to get the tabs done for the booklet and CD that Andrew mentions and every time I saw Gordon at a gig he had changed it. Eventually he left it ...

Re: Announcement Sept 2015

Hi Gordon The strength you have shown over the past months of uncertainty has been inspiring. Having decided to now share this with the whole forum will now give you a lot of positive energy and feedback that is so needed in times of stress. Your support system is strong with Hilary, your family and...

Re: Guitar Star

Glad you see them now :) If you ever get to see 4 Parts Guitar (which I heartily recommend) ask John Etheridge to tell you about Hendrix and Clapton when they came to see him play many moons ago. I won't spoil it by telling Johns story but Jimis comments to John and then Erics speak volumes about th...

Re: Guitar Star

Hi Kevin Always a bit dry on the forum at this time of year (holidays I suppose). I love the guitar in all of it's styles and once Gordon and me get together it's hard to get either of us out of 'anorak mode' :) Members on the forum are always willing to help, advise or generally give and opinion. G...

Re: Guitar Star

Hi all Thought I’d give some opinions too. Watched the whole series as anything to do with guitar and techniques used is something close to my heart. I thought the guitarist that won was excellent and I’m glad he won. I could not fault his percussive guitar and the different techniques he used were ...

Re: Double Visions - Kings Arts Centre, Cheddar 17th July

I can't add anything to what you have said Andrew except that it was a great concert with works of towering genius flowing from the two of them  I'm still trying to work out how Ray played that Heartsong keyboard lead so well and made it look easy. Some nice facts about Clapton and Georgie Fam...

Val Doonican

Sad to hear that Val Doonican has passed away at the aged of 88. His TV program was a joy and his easy going approach to everything hid his great talent as a guitarist.
RIP Val.
