It seems the only place to try out a Vintage GG in London is Ivor Mairants, when they next have them in stock (particularly like the user review btw :)) - I always get drawn to the basement there, or stop over at Hobgoblin across the road (where I got my Fylde). I agree with you on the inspiration p...

Thanks for the input :) I'll try to arrange something with Roger early next year - might even be a trip up to rolling hills and so forth, for a change of scenery. Just have to remember not to take any form of credit card or cheque book! The GG Vintage Yes, I know what you are thinking BUT... ha! you...

Intonation...

Two years in with my Fylde and although it's perfect 90% of the time, the rest it's frustratingly out of tune.... Brief history: Bought two years ago second hand (2002/2003 model), my first "proper" acoustic guitar, despite having played for 18 years. The intonation was off on the B and E ...

I caught this capo trick from one of my favourite guitar players, the immensely talented David Rawlings. Blink and you'll miss it around 1:50...

hi Scott, Thanks for the comments. I did one more trial today recording guitar with just the pickup - no external mic. At a risk of spamming, here's what my friend and put together... the guitar was just the fishman into a GG10. http://www.last.fm/music/Josienne+Clarke/Unsorted+Demos/Milk+and+Honey+...

sooooooooooo, i caved in via ebay. I've done an A/B between the Headway FEQ.1 that Mr Bucknall installs, and the Fishman Rare Earth Blend, both going into a GG10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv5ff9XxHE8 Having spent a few days with both, I think the piezo still sounds sterile in places, unless yo...

Thanks for the replies - I think the fishman vs piezo train of thought might be a grass is greener topic. I did a gig last night and was asked a) Is that a Takamine? and b) Where's the mic for the guitar? - so will stick with the piezo for the forseeable... With the archtop, the 99p transducer from ...

Yet another pickup thread...

Hello all... I'm doing a large number of gigs at the moment, with my Headway Piezo-equipped Fylde Alchemist. This I run into a GG10 (very old-school...), and the sound is pretty good. A little, dare I say, 'dry' occasionally, but it does pick up dynamic changes well... I've noticed most people we pl...

About to make people rather old now, but I first saw Gordon at Evesham Art's Centre for a charity fundraiser (Tracy Sollis Trust), mid-1990's? I would have been early-teens at the time, but do remember a Rob Armstrong Hedgehog being played...?? Must have been a profound influence at the time, since ...

That's the one... Thanks! For some reason I had it down as The Picnic, which it clearly isn't  It sounds better when not recorded on a camera phone! The Alchemist (tried a Taylor, Martin and Lowden and it blew them away), I've had for the past three weeks, having played a low-end Takamine for ...

What's the title of this tune??!!

I apologise for the somewhat cannibalisation of this - I don't recall the title and have only heard it a couple of times, but seem to recall being shown it at one of Gordon's workshops in Huntingdon Hall probably 10 years ago? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MRS8ZsRgmrU Not quite sure whether the imit...
