Hi All, Got my copy too. Very prompt from Voiceprint. It's simply great! Have not listened to it enough to really get into it but there is so much there to enjoy. I can only concur with the comments above. Maddie is particularly special. The running order problem is fine once you realise what is goi...

John Martyn RIP

It is with heavy heart that I learn our John passed away today :( Although I know his music was not to everyone's taste, for those of us who have enjoyed his songs and music over many years this is indeed a sad sad day. He certainly pushed the boundaries in everything he did and the way he lived his...

Mike, Sorry for the tardy reply but I have been away from my computer for a few days. Coincidence indeed that we should end up sitting next to you and Ben. Gordon certainly has a new young fan! Anyway, it was good to meet you both and I am sure it will happen again soon. Your review of the concert i...

Hi Gordon and All, Thought you might know Jaques. I have to say I'm particularly partial to his version of U2s With or Wthout You. Not a piece I would have dreamt of trying to play on acoustic guitar (or piece of wood as our John calls it). Even "The Edge" isn't safe from us acoustic boys!...

Worth a listen

Hi all, A guitar playing work colleague of mine recently introduced me to two artists I had not previously come across, Ulli Bogershausen and Jaques Stotzem. Of course you may already be familiar with these two but if not it is worth a look. Different styles but equally effective, I think. You will ...

Hi All, Not much to add to the previous comments re B'ham concert last Saturday. What a marvelous setting for such a wonderful evening. Alex and I will remember this for some time to come. Thanks to Ray, John, Rick and of course Gordon for making it truly a night to remember. Any chance of you all g...

Hi Gordon, Hope you had a great 60th! Just to say a belated thankyou for the music. Very busy now! I have left a message for Sue at Routes about the possibility of you doing a gig at our village hall sometime. It would be very similar to Ashorne last Nov but I reckon I have a good chance of skipping...

Tuning for Sunshine

Hi Again,

Forgot to ask you if Sunshine was in standard or altered tuning. Not on the list which I got from the website some time ago. Don't want to get off on the wrong foot (or finger).

Take care,

Simon.

Many thanks Gordon. The "fiddler" will be overjoyed! Some hard work coming up. I've cracked "Maddie" now and it sounds soooo wonderful on the new Fylde. Alex has even been known to clap when I get through it without a mistake! I'm sure "Sunshine" will keep me honest too...

Music for Gordon and JB's pieces

Hi Gordon and all. Hope everyone is well. Just wondered whether anyone knew if it is possible to get hold of any sheet music/tab for the pieces Gordon plays with John Bradbury on the Drifter CD. I have a "fiddler" friend and we quite fancy having a stab at one or two, particularly "Th...

Ansty

Hi Gordon and all,

Many thanks for the evening at Ansty. Brilliant as ever. Of course Heartsong, Lucifer and Dodo are highlights but the two I cannot get out of my head right now are Maddy goes west and Rainbow kites.

What? No Raffle?

Best Regards,

Simon.

Ashorne again

Hi all,

Forgot to say to pass on my thanks (if you can) to the organisers of the gig.

They did a great job and coped with the postal strike problems re tickets etc.

Hope they can organise another one next year.

See you all at Ansty?

Best Regards,

Simon.

Ashorne

Hi gordon and co, Many thanks for a wonderful evening at Ashorne. Now I know what I've been missing all these years! Your handling of the raffle was near perfect. Years of experience no doubt! As a fully certified guitar anorak I had loads to hear and look at. The interesting thing is that the peopl...

Yes, I guess the feedback 'threshold' when using mic's does so depend on the immediate environment. Wise to have an alternative at hand. Some interesting stuff to mull over here. Gordon does really seem to have the knack of getting excellent sound with relatively simple equipment. As you say, there'...

Hi all, Russ, I couldnt agree more about pre-amps etc. Nuff said. Tim, interesting comments re mic'ing acoustics. Perenial problem which makes you resort to the dreaded electronics. For what it's worth, I tried an SM58 the other day (only in my sitting room which is though quite large) and it sounde...
