Re: Acoustic partial capo column

Jon, There is some very detailed info on Wikipedia if you look up Partial Capo - "Guitarist Jerry Faires says that in 1967 a guy by the name of Carr came into his St. Louis area coffee shop sporting a Bill Russell capo with the two ends sawn off so the high and low E strings were open." So...

Acoustic partial capo column

This month's Acoustic magazine has a great article by Gordon on the partial capo and has spurred me to pass on a few interesting recent developments I have come across, to anyone interested in experimenting with these devices. Presently there are many great capo manufactures and some of my own favou...

Re: N Ireland Date

For regular readers to the forum I thought it would be worthwhile adding a short review of the recent Belfast gig just for the record: This event was held in quite a compact venue but was filled with an enthusiastic and responsive audience. Gordon had an issue with his pedal board power supply prior...

Re: N Ireland Date

Keeping very well Gordon, thanks. Looking forward to meeting up again too. The weather forecast is wet but mild for most of the coming week over here - it is good to know these things in advance when travelling! - just bring instrument, plectrum, partial capo and an umbrella... See you Thursday. Bes...

N Ireland Date

Good to see another visit back to N. Ireland on the concert schedule - looking forward to the performance. (I think the last visit was for the Lifetime Achievement Award ?).

Hello Sue, I would imagine that English and Mathematics etc are still not as much fun... However - it is still pretty amazing that in a very short space of time you can easily record something, video the process and share it with people around the world - I think that inspires students to be creative...

Winter Blues

Many readers here will know Gordon is a patron of the RGT and great advocate of encouraging young and old to learn the guitar. Winter 2010 has proved quite challenging for most of us - one issue relating to schools has been cancelled events and performances. In one school I teach guitar in I had pre...

Tommy Fest

Sue, My pleasure - nice to meet you in person too - thanks for sharing cakes and conversation ! The Harrow Arts concert was a super way to end what had been for me quite a busy day. I think what stood out in this concert was the way all the artists engaged the audience with their performances. Thats...

Award

Folks, My first post on this forum. I was fortunate enough to be at the Ards Festival and hope the photos help paint a picture of the evening (though the lighting in the hall was quite low). It was a very enjoyable evening and the Award is a great achievement for Gordon which he humbly and graciousl...
