The lad who won played an Eric Roche tune in the final and on stage at the end.
Good to hear music by the late great, Eric Roche being played.

Just heard the news that fingerstyle guitarist Pete Huttlinger passed away yesterday.

Re: A possible GG guitar?

Nice guitar. Congrats. And now you know it was part of Gordon's collection.
Bare Knuckle pickups are great. I've got the Irish Tour set on my Strat.
I've never come across that make before, but if Gordon plays them . . .
Enjoy

Heartsong on Ken Bruce Radio 2 show

I was driving along on Friday, with radio 2 on in the van, when all of a sudden, the opening chords to Heartsong rang out. It was just after 11:30 on the Ken Bruce show. He played the entire tune, without talking over it, then he had Paddy O'Connell guess the show. It took him several attempts befor...

Re: Harp Guitar amplification

Ok, just read the info about the guitar. So the six strings on the fretless neck are additional bass strings, with an option of fretting them. That makes sense. Would love to hear you playing something on it.

Re: Harp Guitar amplification

I wouldn't have a clue how to play that guitar. It's unusual to have the harp strings higher. The harp guitars Stephen Bennett and Pierre Bensusan play have the harp strings as additional bass strings. And a fretless acoustic?!? Sorry, can't offer and advice on how to mic it, but I hope you enjoy it...

I'll just add a couple of names that haven't come up yet.

Re: The Wonga ad.

Yes it's a Benjamin guitar. Nice guitars, but he's put his prices up since Eric Roche, Newton Faulkner and others started playing them.

Re: The Wonga ad.

Ben is a good guitarist. I've seen some of his stuff on YouTube. And he's a fellow Lowden player too. Nice to see Eric's name mentioned. I miss Eric Roche. I was lucky enough to see him afew times, plus I went to his workshops 3 or 4 times. He was a really good teacher. He did some nice arrangements...

Re: Stratocasters

I'm playing a Strat these days. I played a Fender Strat Hot Rod in the early 90's, during my rock phase. I fancied an electric to noodle on, so I bought a Rory Gallagher Relic Strat and replaced the pickups with Bare Knuckle 'Irish Tour' pickups. It's got Fender on the headstock, but I don't think i...

I was at the Gordon Giltrap workshop yesterday so I thought I’d tell everyone about it. I arrived early (keen as always) with guitar in hand, to find Gordon finishing off his sound check. I sat and watched/listened in ore for a few minutes until he had finished. Gordon kicked things off with some wa...

I'm lucky that up here in the North East we have the guitar festival, where the artists usually do workshops before the gigs, and the Buddle in Wallsend, Newcastle, where again the artists sometimes do a workshop on the afternoon of the gig. Isaac Guillory was my 1st workshop, and most of the theory...

Workshops

I've just bought my tickets for Gordon Giltrap playing at the South Shields Customs House - International Guitar Festival. I've also got my ticket for the afternoon workshop, which I'm really looking forward to. (Also got concert/workshop tickets for Alex de Grassi). Most guitarist seem to do the od...
