Re: Dodo's Dream (2018 version)

One of the things I love about Dodo is it never sits still. It is a constantly changing and evolving piece and that is part of its appeal to me. I remember having my socks blown off when I first heard it played in Bretforton in 2004 and set about learning it...it is a piece that is so rewarding both...

Popped in to say hello

Hi all. I've not been around here for a while, mostly as life seems to have been insanely busy since Anna and I got married last year. I can't believe we've passed the 15 months marker now! I'm still being musical and have taken up piano, an instrument I wanted to play when much younger. As it's my ...

Finding "new" artists

New to you, that is. They may have had a thirty year career but you've just tripped over them. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Anna and I were shopping in Bristol when over the shop's sound system was a track that caught my attention. Interesting bass line, keyboards, guitars and a chuggi...

Re: Vintage VE2000GG 12 string - my experience

I'll add my condolences too. I've lost both my parents in 2013 and 2014 and it proved to affect me rather more than I was expecting. I have found that listening to some music that both mum and dad liked helped to remind me of the good times and I have formed a new connection to pieces that have alwa...

Re: Thalia Capos

@Brad - the inserts are a doddle to change, takes seconds. It needs to be as the inserts are designed to be used on instruments with different radius necks so they are hot-swappable. So far I've just used the teflon ones which are quite hard. I'm going to give the rubber ones a try next.

No such thing as owning one ukulele. Any uke owner will testify to that. Anna and I are definitely not exceptions to that condition.

Re: The Last of England - CD

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive (should be here tomorrow) but I've had a fix via Spotify over the last couple of days. I couldn't order it before as we've been poised to move house for two months and I just caught Amazon with a stock level of 1 left on Sunday after watching the "It's on back ...

Re: Question about The Entertainer

Hi Lauren, I've listened to The Entertainer and my take is as follows. I can't get all of it and the bits I'm uncertain of are in square brackets - I suspect they are the bits you are struggling with but here goes, it may fill in some blanks for you. Walk down to end of the promenade Turn left to th...

Thalia Capos

Having discovered Thalia Capos through Carrie Martin I have indulged in one. They are exceptional bits of kit, not cheap, but beautiful, functional and easy to use. They come in 3 finishes: gold, chrome or black chrome (mine is black chrome). They also have lots of inlays to choose from and it is th...

Re: Greg Lake

Not good to hear that John Wetton isn't well. I am a KC fan and I only have to hear the name to get "One More Red Nightmare" going through my head, or sometimes "The Night Watch". Losing both Greg Lake and Keith Emerson last year has been so sad, but then as we well know 2016 was...

Re: Just Joined the Forum

Hi Mark - welcome. You'll enjoy the Vintage GG Signature, it is (as you have discovered) an amazing instrument and for the price it is unparalleled. I too have several guitars and I get around all of them by keeping them in different tunings for different pieces. As I practice the pieces I use a spe...
