FRIDAY 28TH MARCH GIG CANCELLED

Due to circumstances beyond Gordon's control, tonights gig in Walthamstow has been cancelled.

At time of writing this, 5.15pm - Gordon has been stuck in traffic on the M40 just south of Warwick for 3 hours. From what we can make out, there has been a serious accident with a car crossing the central reservation and involving 6 cars and 3 lorries, further down the motorway. The 15 mile stretch that Gordon is on has been closed. As yet there is no news on how long it is likely to be before the motorway reopens, and traffic in the surrounding area is also at a standstill.

Many apologies to those of you planning to attend. The gig will be re-scheduled as soon as possible. If you already have tickets, please contact the Plough for more information.

26th March is the first anniversary of the re-vamped website. The year has flown by with only a couple of problems reported by site users, and users able to access so much more detailed information than they were before. On behalf of Gordon I'd like to thank Slab500 for all their hard work behind the scenes ensuring that the site runs smoothly.

SPALDING GUITAR FESTIVAL 8TH MARCH

Springfields Exhibition Halls in Spalding was the venue for a slightly unusual guitar Festival this weekend. Why unusual ? Well, it isn't often that Gordon appears on stage these days with two other acts, multi-coloured flashing spotlights and even more rarely, the other acts being two electric rock bands ! See scan of poster at bottom of page.

Local Spalding band Wild Turkey kicked off the evening; next Gordon played two sets, having decided it was more appropriate to leave The Hamsters to rock the rest of the night away with an hour and a half of Jimi Hendix and ZZ Top !

At first it was a slightly surreal experience to hear Gordon's acoustic instruments sandwiched between these two high energy bands, but any doubt that he was up to the task was soon dispelled as the guitars rang out loud and clear. God Save The Queen had the audience cheering and ending the first set with Dodo's Dream ensured the audience were completely won over, even those who were there primarily for the electric bands were amazed that one man and one guitar could produce such a sound. Band ??.... who needs a band !

Brisk trade at the merch desk followed, with people queueing to chat with Gordon and get their cd's signed.

The second half was equally impressive, the 12 string sounded superb, and finishing with an extremely high energy version of Heartsong with Lucifer's Cage as an encore ensured a standing ovation.

Packing up after Gordon's set meant I didn't get any photos of the Hamsters, but my pictures from the rest of the event can be found in the Gallery. Click here

HIGH BARN 8TH MARCH

Gordon writes:

"Friday night was very special for me in many ways. The venue was stunning, the sound was outstanding, and I met some beautiful people during the course of the evening, and to add to that to have in the audience my friend Peter Howarth, a man who is currently the singer with the Hollies and who for many years worked with, and still does from time to time as session vocalist for Sir Cliff. It just doesn't get any better than that.
